Eaten Alive! (1980)

Sheila (Janet Agren) treks into the jungles of New Guinea to find her missing sister, Diana (Paola Senatore), who disappeared some months before after joining a "purification cult" led by religious nut Jonas (Ivan Rassimov). In the middle of a rain forest teeming with cannibals and venomous snakes, Sheila and her guide Mark (Robert Kerman) discover the cult's village. Once they find it, they have to decide between staying and joining the cult (which involves, among other things, being forced to drink drug-laced green stuff, being violated with a dildo dipped in cobra blood, being gang raped during your husband's funeral, and walking around topless) and trying to escape through the jungles and back to civilization (which involves, among other things, having your penis chopped off and tossed into a snake stew, being given a mastectomy without anesthetic by an unlicensed surgeon, and having various body parts sliced off and eaten while you lie wondering whether a poisonous snake is going to slither into one of the newly formed orifices). This one loses points from me for having a lot of human-on-animal abuse, a mostly uninteresting story, and for being really poorly edited (even the uncut version looks like some disgruntled crew member picked up the prop machete and started randomly hacking away at the film). Many scenes are cannibalized (no pun intended) from earlier jungle films. This definitely isn't one of the genre's stronger offerings.
